Vehicle Controllers Overview

This directory contains modular logic controllers that manage specific vehicle systems, safety electronics, and integrations.

This directory contains modular logic controllers that manage specific vehicle systems, safety electronics, and integrations.

Primary Logic Controllers

  • Vehicle Controller: The main logic manager for shifting, braking, and user-facing control logic.
  • ESC (Electronic Stability Control): Manages stability and traction control interventions.
  • Drive Modes: Orchestrates vehicle-wide driving profiles (Sport, Eco, etc.).
  • Player Controller: Core logic for walking/unicycle mode.
  • Beam Navigator: Backend for in-vehicle navigation screens.
  • Lightbar: Management of animated emergency lighting patterns.

Shifting and Powertrain Control

  • Shift Logic: Modular logic for different gearbox types (Automatic, Manual, DCT, CVT, etc.).
  • 4WD Control: Management of selectable 4WD and transfer case systems.
  • Axle Lift: Control for hydraulic/pneumatic axle lift mechanisms.
  • Two Step Launch: Stationary launch control limiter.
  • Line Lock: Front/rear brake line locking for burnouts.

Driving Dynamics and CMU

  • CMU (Control Management Unit): The central hub for driving dynamics sensors and supervisors.
  • Actuators: Electronic controls for differentials, dampers, and torsion bars.
  • Supervisors: High-level slip and yaw control modules (TCS, ESC).
  • Sensors: Virtual and physical sensor processing for dynamics logic.

Auxiliary Systems

  • Braking: Specialized braking logic (Adaptive lights, braked steering, etc.).
  • Pneumatics: Air-based actuators and leveling. Uses Pressure Tanks.
  • Hydraulics: Fluid-based cylinders and pumps.
  • Couplings: Fifth-wheel and kingpin coordination.
  • Prop Animation: Visual movement logic for levers, dials, and props.
  • Sound: Specialized audio controllers (AVAS, airbrakes).

Developer and Tech Utilities

  • Tech: BeamNG.tech-specific co-simulation, sensors, and protocols (CAN, LIN, MQTT).
  • Gauges: Backend for modern instrument clusters and custom gauge modules.
  • Test: Metrics and calibration utilities.
  • Controller Template: A boilerplate for creating new custom controllers.

ETK Gauges Controller

Backend controller for the ETK-series vehicle instrument cluster. Processes powertrain, speed, and warning data into gauge-ready values for the ETK dashboard display.

Hydraulic Suspension Controller

Controls hydraulic ride height adjustment systems. Manages pump pressure, valve states, and target heights for each corner of the vehicle. Used on lowriders, air-ride equipped vehicles, and utility vehicles with load-leveling.
